Obverse description Crowned facing bust of King Tupou V, wearing full royal regalia including an ornate jewelled crown surmounted by a cross, military uniform with epaulettes, and decorative sash. The effigy is rendered in high relief within an inner circle. The legend 'TUPOU V' arcs above along the upper periphery, while 'TONGA 2015' curves below along the lower periphery, all in Latin characters.

Reverse description The national Coat of Arms of Tonga displayed centrally, divided into four quarters: three stars in the first quarter representing the three principal island groups; a crown in the second quarter symbolising the Kingdom; a dove in the third quarter representing Christianity; and three crossed swords in the fourth quarter denoting the three Royal dynasties. A white star and red cross appear at the centre of the shield. The national motto 'KO E ʻOTUA MO TONGA KO HOKU TOFIʻA' (God and Tonga Are My Inheritance) is inscribed on a banner below. The inscription 'SILA ʻO TONGA' appears above the arms and the denomination '1 PAʻANGA' is shown below.
