| 裏面の説明 | A six-line Latin dedicatory inscription within an ornate baroque cartouche of scrolling acanthus foliage, strapwork, and shell motifs, surmounted by a floral finial. The inscription records the name of the doge, his title as Prince of Venice, the word MVNVS (gift), the regnal year AN.I (Anno Primo), and the date 1752 at the base. The entire composition is characteristic of the highly decorative reverse treatment traditional to Venetian gold oselle presentation pieces. The reeded border frames the elaborate design. |
