Cattaro — today's Kotor in Montenegro — operated under a succession of overlords during this period, passing from Byzantine suzerainty through Serbian rule under the Nemanjić dynasty before falling to Bosnian and eventually Venetian control in 1420, the date that closes this type's production window. The city retained unusual municipal minting privileges throughout these transitions, which is precisely why civic copper issues like this one continued under changing masters.
The Dobrinić attribution places this among the earliest documented Ragusan-influenced Adriatic civic coppers.
