| Obverse description | Uniformed bust of Gran Mariscal Luis José de Orbegoso y Moncada facing slightly left, depicted in elaborate military dress with epaulettes, decorations, and medals adorning his chest. The birth and death dates 1795–1847 appear in the right field. A beaded border frames the design. The circular legend around the periphery identifies the subject as a hero of independence and President of the Republic, with his full name and title inscribed along the lower arc. |

| Additional information |
Orbegoso is among the more obscure figures honored in Peru's presidential commemorative series — a liberal caudillo who held the presidency from 1833 to 1836 largely through civil war rather than electoral mandate, his tenure marked by the failed Peru-Bolivian Confederation experiment backed by Andrés de Santa Cruz. He spent much of his presidency fighting rival claimants and ultimately died in exile in France in 1847.
