| Obverse description | The arms of Peru, comprising a quartered shield displaying a vicuña at upper left, a cinchona tree at upper right, and a cornucopia at base, all surmounted by a civic wreath and flanked by palm and laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The Lima Mint mark (M) appears below the shield in the lower field. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1997 is inscribed along the lower border. Fineness and weight notations 33.625 g and 0.925 Ag are incused in the lower left and right fields respectively. The coin is struck in proof style with a deeply mirrored field contrasting frosted relief devices. |
