| Obverse description | King Henry IV stands facing within a ship, depicted in full armor holding an upraised sword in his right hand and a shield bearing the quartered arms of England and France in his left. The ship's hull is ornamented with a cross below the second lis, with decorative arrangement of ornaments in a 1-11-11-1 configuration, three ropes over one, quatrefoils in a 3/3 arrangement, and lis disposed 1-2-1. A bowsprit projects from the bow of the vessel, and the rigging and hull details are rendered with characteristic late medieval hammered precision. The peripheral legend in Latin runs around the coin, interrupted by a retrograde Lombardic 7 and the initial letter A. |

| Reverse description | A voided short cross potent superimposed over a cross fleurée occupies the full field, dividing the design into four quarters. In each angle, a crown surmounts a lion passant gardant above a trefoil. At the center, a Lombardic H is set within an angled quadrilobe. The entire composition is contained within a decorative polylobe border with trefoils in the spandrels. Double saltire stops punctuate the surrounding Latin legend. |
