| Opis awersu | Cast bronze cash coin with a central square hole. Four Chinese characters are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central perforation, read top-bottom then right-left: 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), identifying this as a coin of the Sangpyeong Treasury (Joseon Bureau of Exchange). The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) within a plain field, with no decorative border. The obverse follows the standard Joseon cash-coin convention established from 1633 onward. |
