Obverse description Round cast bronze coin with a central square perforation, typical of East Asian cash coinage. The four-character legend 海東重寶 (Hae Dong Chung Bo, meaning 'Heavy Treasure of the Eastern Sea') is arranged in cruciform fashion around the central square hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the conventional manner. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) in raised relief against a flat field. The obverse surface shows a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a plain outer rim, both characteristic of Goryeo dynastic cast coinage. The coin displays an aged dark patina with typical surface porosity consistent with the sand-casting technique employed.
