| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast iron cash-type coin featuring the four-character legend 寛永通寶 (Kan'eitsūhō) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, reading top-bottom-right-left in the traditional East Asian manner. The character 寛 appears at the top, 寶 at the bottom, 通 to the right, and 永 to the left, each set within the broad flat field between the square hole rim and the raised outer rim. The casting surface displays the characteristic granular texture of iron Mon production, with a relatively wide perforation (広穿) type and a small, elevated form of the character 通. The entire design is executed in archaic seal-script style consistent with Edo-period monetary conventions. |
