| Descrizione del dritto | Cast copper cash-type coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. Four large Chinese characters in regular script (kaisho) are arranged in the four cardinal positions around the central hole, to be read clockwise: 富 (top), 壽 (right), 神 (bottom), 寳 (left), together forming the auspicious legend 富壽神寳 — 'Divine treasure of wealth and long life.' The characters are boldly rendered in relief against a flat field, with a raised outer rim encircling the entire obverse. The overall style reflects the classical East Asian cast coin tradition of the early Heian period. |

One of the Twelve Imperial Coins (*Jūnikai Sen*) issued under the ritsuryō monetary system, the Fugashinnō-sen was produced at provincial mints as the imperial government attempted to sustain copper coinage circulation across the home islands. The effort largely failed — hoarding was endemic, and repeated imperial edicts threatening punishment for those who refused to accept coin in trade had to be reissued throughout the Nara and early Heian periods, which itself tells you how little the currency was trusted.
