Reverse description Plain and unadorned reverse, typical of early Japanese cast coinage of the Heian period. The central square hole is framed by a raised square boss, which is itself surrounded by a flat, featureless field extending to a plain raised outer rim. No inscription, symbol, or decorative element is present.
