| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a bold, multi-line Arabic calligraphic inscription in a traditional Afghan style, giving the name and titles of Amir Sher Ali Khan. The inscription is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the field decorated by small pellet rosettes arranged in groups at the interstices of the lettering. The AH date 1288 appears in Eastern Arabic numerals along the lower margin of the inner circle. The outer border consists of a reeded or milled rim typical of hammered Afghan gold coinage of this period. |

Decorative pellet clusters fill the spaces between the letterforms, a characteristic ornamental device of Afghan hammered coinage. The AH date 1288 appears in Eastern Arabic numerals at the lower margin. The overall flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck production at the Kabul mint, and the outer edge displays a granular milled border. |
