Kishangarh's gold mohurs of this period occupy an unusual corner of Indian numismatics: a feudatory state issuing regal-style coinage acknowledging Victoria as Empress while simultaneously naming its own ruler, Madan Singh, who acceded in 1879 and ruled until 1900. The overlap of those two names on a single coin reflects the precise administrative moment when British paramountcy required formal acknowledgment on princely issues, yet local dynastic identity was still accommodated.
Kishangarh's mint output was never large, and gold issues least of all.
