Karauli was among the smaller Rajput princely states in what is now Rajasthan, and its gold mohur issues under Victoria are exceptional survivals — the state's output was minimal, and gold denominations were struck in tiny quantities, largely for ceremonial presentation rather than active commerce. Bhanwar Pal ruled Karauli from 1875 until his death in 1886, making this a final-year issue of his reign.
