Reverse description A boldly rendered five-clawed Imperial dragon is depicted in high relief, coiling dynamically across the entire field with its head facing upward and a flaming pearl at the centre. The dragon's scales, mane, and flame details are rendered with considerable artistic energy characteristic of late Qing provincial coinage. The tail and claws extend to fill the field, lending the design a vigorous, animated quality. The reverse is without a legend or border inscription, framed only by a beaded rim.
