| Popis rubu | Central six-petalled rosette or star motif prominently displayed in the field, a hallmark device of the Damascus mint during this period. The floral star is rendered with clearly defined petals radiating from a central point, surrounded by Arabic legend disposed around the periphery of the flan. The inscription records the mint name and AH date, as well as the formulaic invocation of divine favour upon the sultan's reign. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with hammered provincial Ottoman silver coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
