| Description de l’avers | The note is printed on a vivid yellow ground and divided into three vertical panels by ornamental framing in orange and red. The left and right panels each contain a circular vignette — the left showing a harbour scene with sailing vessels, the right a multi-storey civic building — both set within scrolling Art Nouveau cartouches with pendant tassels, and each bearing the denomination '1 MARK' in bold red letterpress below. The central panel carries the serial number in red above the inscription 'NORDISCHEN', with the Kiel civic device — a cross-and-anchor emblem — at centre, and 'MESSE IN KIEL' beneath; the designer's signature 'C. | Description du revers | Printed on a yellow ground, the reverse carries a bold Expressionist vignette of two male silhouettes erecting a tall pole against a dynamic backdrop of orange and blue serpentine forms, with an industrial skyline of factory chimneys and buildings rendered in orange and dark brown. Ornamental borders of stylised floral rosettes in yellow, orange, and blue frame the left and right margins. A Low German dialect motto 'WI MÜTT WIDDER IM VOLLDAMP VÖRUT' appears at lower left and a mirrored inscription at lower right; the bold legend 'NORDISCHE MESSE KIEL' runs across the lower centre, while the full validity and redemption text is printed along all four borders, including the redemption date of 15 October 1921 at the foot. |
