| Obverse description | Blue-green guilloche underprint dominates the face, with three oval lozenges at centre and flanks enclosing the numeral '1' and the large Fraktur inscription 'Eine Mark.' The title 'Darlehenskassenschein' runs across the top in gothic script, the issuing authority 'Reichsschuldenverwaltung' below the date 'Berlin, den 12. August 1914', followed by five facsimile signatures.
