Naugard — now Nowogard in northwestern Poland — was a small Pomeranian market town whose municipal savings bank issued notgeld during the inflationary chaos following World War One. The Carl Flemming & Wiskott press in Glogau was among the more prolific regional printers of this emergency small-change paper, supplying dozens of municipalities across Pomerania and Silesia with similar series.
Lippert's designer credit appearing on notgeld of this type is worth noting — such attributions are unusual for municipal emergency currency at this denomination level and suggest the Stadtsparkasse commissioned rather than simply ordered off a stock format.
