Stöckheim (Northeim) is a small community in Lower Saxony, and this 1920 notgeld issue is exactly the kind of hyperlocal emergency scrip that proliferated across Germany as the Reichsbank struggled to meet small-denomination demand in the immediate postwar period. The signature of Braunholz almost certainly belongs to the Bürgermeister or a designated municipal treasurer — local officials who bore personal accountability for redemption, at least in theory.

Redemption in practice was another matter. Many Gemeinde-level issues were never fully recalled, and small communities like Stöckheim often let obligations lapse quietly once the broader currency stabilization of 1923–24 made the scrip worthless anyway.
