Grünberg (now Zielona Góra, Poland) was a significant textile center in Lower Silesia, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1914–1923, its Magistrat issued emergency Notgeld to cover the acute shortage of small change that plagued local commerce during the war and its aftermath.
