The central panel bears a large oval cartouche enclosing an elaborate quartered coat of arms supported by two rampant lions and surmounted by a crown, executed in gold, red, blue, and black. The left lateral panel contains a full-length period figure identified as "Landgraf Philipp" in 17th-century dress, the right panel shows a figure labelled "Burgvogt", and the denomination "Eine Mark" in Gothic script appears at the foot of each flanking panel, with the place name "Philippsthal a. d.
