Paderborn's Stadtsparkasse entered the notgeld market in 1921 as the postwar inflation made Reichsmark coinage effectively disappear from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply insufficient in volume. Gebrüder Parcus in Munich were among the more prolific emergency currency printers of the period, handling municipal and savings-bank contracts across Bavaria and beyond.
The DeNG reference places this within the fourth and fifth subtype variants of the 1043.6 series, suggesting the Stadtsparkasse issued multiple runs — not unusual for municipalities that consistently underestimated demand as inflation accelerated through 1921 into 1922.
