The left panel bears a smaller municipal arms with crossed mining tools in red on white, accompanied by the motto 'Glück auf! Hier wohnt ein rei Geschlecht', while the right panel displays a red cross on white with the motto 'Standhaft und treu!'. The denomination 'Eine Mark' appears in Gothic script in both upper side panels, and the lower margin carries the issuing inscription 'Philippsthal an der Werra am 1. Oktober 1921. Der Gemeindevorstand' in elaborate calligraphic lettering. |

The left panel carries a caricature figure of a convalescent spa guest labelled 'Genesener', while the right panel shows a classically draped female allegorical figure labelled 'Sanitas' holding a cup and wreath.
