The referendum of February 1920 ultimately returned Northern Schleswig to Denmark, meaning notes like this one were issued under German municipal authority just as that authority was about to dissolve. Gebr. & Kunze of Flensburg were active printers of Schleswig-region Notgeld throughout this transitional moment.
