Obverse description Central shield bearing the stag-horn arms of Regenstein, surmounted by an ornate crested helm with elaborate foliate mantling extending across the field. The heraldic composition is rendered in the late-Gothic style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century German coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire device, reading MON. NOV. AR. VLR. C. I. REGEN., identifying the coin as a new silver issue of Ulrich, Count in Regenstein.

Reverse description Standing figure of the crowned Virgin Mary as Madonna, shown in full-length draped robes, holding the Christ Child before her, both figures crowned. Stylized radiating flames or rays surround the central group, consistent with the Marian iconography typical of Mariengroschen coinage of the period. The circular Latin legend MARIA. MAT - ER. SALVA. (Maria Mater Salvatoris) is distributed around the periphery of the field.
