Obverse description Central field features a trefoil or trilobed shield design with a crosshatched lower section, enclosed within an inner beaded circle. A small pellet appears at the center of the field. The circular legend surrounding the design reads MONETA. NOVA. HOXER., identifying the coin as a new issue of Höxter, struck in the hammered style typical of mid-16th century German ecclesiastical coinage.

Reverse description Standing figure of the Virgin Mary, crowned and robed in flowing drapery, depicted facing forward in the Gothic tradition with the Christ Child held before her. The figure is rendered in bold relief characteristic of hammered German billon coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, invoking the Ave Maria formula. The inscription is divided across the field reading GAV. D(EI)(IE). GE - NI. MARI(A)., referencing the Gratia Dei Genitrix Maria (Mary, Mother of God by the Grace of God).
