| Beschrijving keerzijde | The brass centre presents a forward-facing portrait bust of Sultan Suleiman I (Kanuni), depicted wearing a distinctive tall Ottoman turban and a bearded visage, rendered in a classical Ottoman miniature portrait style. To the left in the outer copper-nickel ring appears a crescent and star device, while a stylised tulip motif is positioned to the right. The upper arc of the outer ring bears the legend 'OSMANLI PADİŞAHLARI', and the lower arc carries the inscription '1494-1566 I. SÜLEYMAN (KANUNI)' identifying the sultan's birth and death years and his epithet. |

The Darphane has issued commemorative and circulation bimetallic lira pieces with historical figures periodically since the early 2000s, and Suleiman I remains one of the most politically resonant choices for Turkish state coinage — his reign from 1520 to 1566 marked the Ottoman Empire's greatest territorial extent. Whether this 2025 issue reflects renewed official interest in Ottoman-era iconography as a cultural positioning tool is a question the mint's release calendar answers more honestly than any catalog entry can.
