Opmerkingen

Law 2776, passed in 1914 as Peru scrambled to manage the monetary disruption triggered by the outbreak of the First World War, authorized a joint supervisory body — the Junta de Vigilancia — to issue emergency circulating checks backed collectively by four of Lima's leading commercial banks. The arrangement was unusual: no single bank bore sole liability, and the checks were redeemable across the consortium.

Series J places this example among the later printings of the type, suggesting the emergency mechanism ran longer than originally anticipated. ABNC's involvement meant the notes were well-produced, but the authorization, not the paper, was the fragile part of the equation.
