| Additional information |
Maximilian Emanuel of Bavaria governed the Spanish Netherlands — including Namur — as Governor-General, but by 1712 his position was precarious. He had backed Louis XIV's grandson for the Spanish throne, and the War of the Spanish Succession had turned decisively against France. These liards were struck in the final window before the Treaties of Utrecht stripped him of his governorship entirely in 1713, making the two-year production run a direct casualty of the peace settlement rather than any administrative decision.
