| Obverse description | Draped bust of Philip II facing left, rendered in low relief in the late Renaissance style, set within a recessed circular field. The effigy displays curled hair and a high ruffled collar characteristic of Spanish Habsburg portraiture of the period. A hand mintmark, denoting the Antwerp mint, appears beneath the bust. The surrounding circular legend reads PHS. D. G. HISP Z REX. DVX. BRA., separated from the central field by an inner beaded border. |
