| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Prince Carol I facing right, with short hair, moustache, and trimmed beard, rendered in high relief with finely detailed portraiture in the manner of Leonard Charles Wyon. The circular legend reads CAROL I° DOMNU AL ROMÂNILOR around the upper periphery, with the engraver's signature WYON incused at the truncation of the neck. The field is smooth and unadorned, and the rim is defined by a fine beaded border. |
