| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a high-relief reproduction of an ancient Greek stone relief carving depicting two nude male wrestlers engaged in Greco-Roman wrestling, rendered in a naturalistic classical style evoking antique athletic sculpture. The relief fragment is portrayed with intentionally irregular, broken stone edges to emphasise its archaeological character, occupying the majority of the central field. One wrestler is shown crouching and grasping his opponent, whose lower body and legs are visible to the right in a dynamic posture suggesting the struggle. The curved legend 'OLIMPISKAS SPELES · ATENAS · 2004' is inscribed along the lower periphery of the field, referencing the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Latvia's 2002 commemorative program marked the country's return to the Summer Olympics as an independent nation — a participation that had been impossible during Soviet occupation. The Greco-Roman wrestling issue was part of a broader Olympic series released ahead of Athens 2004.
Latvian wrestlers had a notable pre-war tradition under the first republic, with Jānis Daliņš and other athletes competing internationally before the 1940 annexation erased the country from Olympic rosters for over five decades.
