Obverse description The coin takes the form of a doubled-over silver wire bent into a characteristic fish-hook or hairpin shape, with both terminals left blunt and slightly flattened. The rounded loop at the top and the two parallel shanks descending below are characteristic of the larin currency type widely circulated in the Indian Ocean trade network. The surface of the wire is undecorated on this face, retaining the natural texture of the hammered silver rod from which it was formed.
