| Beschrijving voorzijde | Full-length standing effigy of King Christian IV facing three-quarters to the right, depicted in elaborate armour with a ruff collar and royal mantle, wearing an arched crown and holding a sceptre in his right hand; a sword hangs at his left side. The figure stands on a raised platform or plinth, rendered in the bold, somewhat naive style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish hammered coinage. The field is flat and unadorned, enclosed within an inner beaded circle. The circumferential legend, reading CHRISTIANUS · IIII · D : G : DANI[AE], runs clockwise around the periphery between the beaded border and the inner circle. |
