The longer of the two crosses bisects the surrounding Latin legend, dividing the inscription into four segments arranged in the quarters of the field. The lettering, rendered in Gothic characters, reads ARCHI / DVX * / ILLV / TRISI, referencing Maximilian I's titles of Archduke and Illustrious. The overall composition is typical of late-medieval Tyrolean hammered coinage, with irregular flan shape and variable strike depth. |
