Wied-Runkel was a tiny imperial county in the Westerwald, perpetually fragile and administratively overextended. John Louis Adolph ruled from 1762, which creates an immediate problem with a 1758 date — the coin predates his confirmed reign, suggesting either a posthumous attribution issue in the KM cataloging or a co-regency arrangement common among the fractured Wied line, which split repeatedly into Wied-Runkel and Wied-Neuwied branches throughout the eighteenth century. The county lost its independence entirely to Nassau-Weilburg in 1806.
