| Opschrift voorzijde | HEN · D · LONGAVIL · C · S · NEOC ⁘ 8 9 (Translation: Henri, Duke of Longueville, Sovereign Count of Neuchâtel.) |
| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold forked (pattée-formy) cross occupies the central field, with each of the four cantons bearing the letter 'H' surmounted by an antique crown, referencing Henri I. The design is symmetrical and heraldic in character, executed in the hammered style typical of late sixteenth-century Swiss principality coinage. A Latin devotional legend encircles the entire composition within a border, with a cross potent serving as a stop mark. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Neuchâtel passed to Henri I de Longueville in 1573, and his coinage reflects the transitional political character of the principality — nominally sovereign, perpetually contested, and caught between French dynastic ambition and Swiss cantonal pressure. The 'H' mintmark designation and the antique crown variety documented by Froidevaux suggest this was among the earlier die configurations of his kreuzer production, before the series settled into more consistent typology.
Billon coinage of this weight and period circulated hard in the Neuchâtelois market towns and wore quickly.
