| Description du revers | The reverse repeats the same brown and salmon-pink design in German. The upper panel reads 'Gutschein über EINE KRONE' in Gothic script with '1' in corner cartouches. The central vignette reproduces the Teschen coat of arms within a laurel wreath on a guilloche underprint, flanked by two text panels carrying redemption and validity clauses dated 25. Oktober 1919. A blue serial number is printed at the foot of the central vignette, with the Bürgermeister's and Finanzausschuss signatures appearing below the flanking text. |

Cieszyn — Teschen in German — was at the center of one of the ugliest territorial disputes of the post-WWI settlement. The town straddled the Olza River, and both Poland and Czechoslovakia claimed it; the Czechs seized the industrial eastern bank by force in January 1919. This note was issued mid-dispute, its bilingual Polish-German text reflecting a population that was genuinely mixed and a municipal authority still navigating which state it would ultimately belong to. The western bank became Polish Cieszyn; the eastern bank became Český Těšín.
Local emergency issues of this type were a stopgap against acute coin shortages in the region's chaotic post-imperial transition, not an assertion of monetary independence.
