| Obverse description | Central field bearing the toponym 'Madurai' inscribed in Kannada script, rendered in a bold, archaic hand typical of Nayak-period copper coinage. The legend occupies the majority of the flan, with the characters arranged in a compact two-line format. The surface is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hand-struck hammered production.
