| Descrizione del dritto | Uniface Arabic-script legend struck in bold, raised relief across the entire field of this irregularly planchet hammered billon jital. The inscription fills the flan in multiple registers, reading the royal title and name of the sultan: 'Al-Sultan al-A'zam Qutb al-Dunya wa'l-Din Abu'l-Muzaffar Mubarak Shah al-Sultan.' The script is executed in a characteristic early-14th-century Delhi Sultanate epigraphic style, with tightly packed cursive strokes. No border or decorative device is present; the legend alone constitutes the entire design. |

Qutb-ud-Din Mubarak Shah's reign lasted just four years before he was murdered by his own favorite, Khusrau Khan, who briefly seized the throne before being killed in turn by Ghazi Malik — the future Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq, founder of the Tughluq dynasty. The jitals struck under Mubarak Shah thus bracket one of the more violent successions in Sultanate history, produced during a reign defined by the reversal of his father Alauddin Khalji's severe market control policies.
