Firuz Shah Tughluq's reign saw one of the most deliberate monetary conservatisms of the entire Sultanate period — a direct reaction to the catastrophic token currency experiment of his predecessor Muhammad bin Tughluq, whose forced brass and copper tokens had triggered a near-total collapse of market confidence in the 1330s.
