Obverse description Central vignette shows a procession of field workers marching, rendered in intaglio in red tones. The bank title in Chinese characters appears across the top, with the denomination 壹角 in large characters to the upper right, flanked by intricate guilloche scroll borders in multicolour. The year 1960 and romanised denomination YI JIAO are printed at the lower centre.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a central diamond-shaped guilloche underprint enclosing the numeral 1, surrounded by elaborate floral and scroll ornamentation printed in red. The national arms of the People's Republic of China appear in the upper right corner, with the romanised bank title across the top and the date 1960 at lower right. A serial number in red is printed along the lower margin.
