Frederik III's copper hvid issues of the early 1650s were struck at a moment when Denmark was still absorbing the financial shock of the Torstenson War and had not yet entered the catastrophic Second Northern War that would nearly end the kingdom by 1658. Small copper denominations like this were produced partly to address chronic shortages of low-value coinage in provincial trade, where silver was simply too valuable to change hands for minor transactions. KM#175 is among the lighter-struck examples of the type, with documented planchet inconsistencies across the series.
