| 表面の説明 | Central field bears a shield charged with a large cross, the arms of which extend to divide the surrounding legend. An inner beaded circle frames the shield, with a further beaded circle near the coin's edge; the inscription occupies the annular space between the two beaded rings. The design is executed in the bold, abbreviated style typical of late medieval Scandinavian hammered coinage, referencing the arms associated with Saint Olav as patron of the Norwegian realm. |

Erik Valkendorf held the archbishopric of Nidaros from 1510 until his forced exile in 1522, driven out by Christian II in a dispute rooted as much in personal animosity as in the crown's broader campaign to curtail ecclesiastical power in Norway. He died in Rome in 1522, never having returned. The archbishopric retained minting rights through this period, making these hvid issues among the last coins struck under independent Norwegian ecclesiastical authority before the Reformation dismantled the see entirely in 1537.
