| Descrizione del dritto | Highly stylized, degenerate bust of a ruler facing left, derived from Seleucid prototype ultimately imitating Antiochos I or II. The effigy is rendered in a schematic, barbarous manner, with a large almond-shaped eye, rudimentary facial features, and a striated headdress or diadem indicated by incised lines. A Sogdian legend appears in the field before the bust, crudely executed and partially legible. The overall style reflects the progressive abstraction characteristic of local Sogdian coinage of the early centuries CE. |
