| Beschrijving keerzijde | A four-petalled or quadrilobe design occupying the central field, formed by four curved lobes arranged symmetrically around a central point, with four small pellets placed between the lobes in the interstitial spaces. The design is rendered in low relief on the irregular round flan, showing typical characteristics of hammered medieval heller coinage. The plain, unadorned field surrounds the central motif. |

The Hand heller takes its name from the open hand device used by the counts of Wertheim, a small Franconian lordship on the Main river. Wertheim issued these tiny bracteate-influenced pieces during a period when the heller — originally struck at Schwäbisch Hall — had fragmented into dozens of regional imitations across the Holy Roman Empire, each local authority putting its own mark on what had become effectively a common small-change denomination.
