The 1572 date places this issue just one year after the promulgation of the Formula of Concord's early drafts — a moment when Lutheran territorial princes were actively consolidating doctrinal and political identity through every available medium, coinage among them.
The Davenport SG#140 attribution situates this within the German States Guldenthalers, a denomination that emerged as a practical bridge between the Thaler and older Rhenish Gulden accounting traditions.
