Obverse description The Danzig civic arms displayed on a crowned shield, supported on either side by a rampant lion, occupying the central field. The shield bears vertical stripes surmounted by two crosses pattée, with a royal crown above. Above the escutcheon, a laurel and olive branch crest is depicted. The date 1812 appears in large numerals in the exergue below the supporters, with no surrounding legend.

Reverse description The two-line denomination EIN / GROSCHEN appears in bold letters within a central dotted beaded circle, below which crossed branches flank a mintmaster's initial M. The circular legend DANZIGER KUPFER MUENZE runs around the outer field, reading clockwise from the lower left. The overall design is plain and typographic in character, consistent with a trial or pattern strike for a proposed copper coinage.
