Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned heraldic shield of the Duchy of Warsaw, divided per pale: the dexter half bearing the arms of Saxony (barry of nine or and sable with a crancelin in bend), and the sinister half displaying the White Eagle of Poland on a plain field. The escutcheon is surmounted by a large royal crown with arched frame and pearl-studded border. Flanking the shield on either side are two crossed palm or laurel branches tied at the base, framing the central device in a decorative wreath-like arrangement. The field is otherwise unlettered, with no surrounding legend.
